  • After completing grade 11 in Vietnam, can students study grade 12 in the United States?

Grade 12 is the final year of high school, and typically, high schools do not accept direct admission into grade 12. They usually require students to repeat grade 11 or at least the second semester of grade 11. Admission is based on the grades from the last two years and English proficiency. However, you can enroll in a community college under the 'Dual Program.'

  • After completing grade 10 in Vietnam, which program should students pursue in the United States?

You should enroll in a boarding or day high school for the next two years: grades 11-12, in order to graduate from high school in the United States and then proceed to university.

  • Can students with relatives in the United States be financially sponsored by them?

In principle, yes. However, the application requires the sponsor to provide all necessary financial income documents and proof of the familial relationship with the sponsored student.

  • What criteria are used to evaluate visa applications to the United States?

When applying for a visa, you will be interviewed at the U.S. Consulate or Embassy. You need to satisfy the interviewer on issues related to your application, such as your study plans in the United States, academic programs you have completed in Vietnam, English proficiency, the school you intend to enroll in the U.S., financial conditions, and post-graduation employment plans.

  • How are grades scored at universities in the United States?

American universities and colleges use a grading system based on letters rather than numeric grades like in Vietnamese universities. Each of your courses is evaluated and graded continuously. Everything you do in a course contributes to your final semester grade. This includes not only exams but also experimental reports, homework assignments, essays, participation in class discussions, and attendance. The grading scale typically ranges as follows:

    90 – 100% = A; 80 – 89% = B; 70 – 79% = C; 60 – 69% = D; 50 – 59% = E; 40 – 49% = F
